Barnstable is made up of three major villages: Barnstable Village, Centerville, Cotuit, Hyannis, Marstons Mills Osterville & West Barnstable. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 28.2 square miles, of which 24.1 square miles is land and 4.1 square miles, or 14.40%, is water. Yarmouth is bordered by Cape Cod Bay to the north, Dennis to the east, Nantucket Sound to the south, and Barnstable to the west. Yarmouth is approximately 75 miles southeast of Boston.
One of the best ways to appreciate the nature and history of Yarmouth is enjoying a walk down one of our historical lanes or hiking on one of our nature trails. On foot, you have the time to enjoy the natural beauty of the seashore, marshes, botanical trails, or the 18th and 19th century architecture of the sea captain’s homes and the churches that are linked to the founding of the town.
